Stephanie Kershner, Vicar

Vicar Stephanie Kershner is a 2009 Master of Divinity graduate from Union Theological Seminary in New York City.  While at Union Vicar Stephanie's focus was Preaching and Worship.  During her senior year Ms. Kershner worked as a Chapel Minister in James Chapel at Union Theological.  As a Chapel Minister she collaborated with students and faculty to plan and lead daily worship and special events at the seminary.  Her experiences in the role of Chapel Minister and her focus in Preaching and Worship expanded her knowledge and interest in different and creative worship styles and their effectiveness to include many resources and people of different backgrounds and experiences.  Vicar Stephanie was also a member and frequent soloist with Union's Seminary Choir.

Ms. Kershner graduated from The University of Akron in 2004 with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance.  During her time as a student at Akron she was involved with opera, choir, chamber choir, and was a featured soloist with The University of Akron's Orchestra.  In the summers of 2000 and 2001 Vicar Stephanie traveled with the school's Concert Choir to Europe to perform concerts of sacred music in some of Europe's oldest churches.

The summer following 9-11 Vicar Stephanie traveled to New York City to work for New Ground Day Camps.  These day camps were designed to work with children who were affected by the tragic events that took place on 9-11.  It is through these day camps and her experience working at Camp Koinonia in upstate New York that Vicar Stephanie followed her call to pursue ordained ministry in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

Vicar Stephanie and her husband, Josh Quillen, got married on June 14th, 2008.  They have a dog, Sasha, and currently live in Mt. Airy.  Vicar Stephanie is excited to walk faithfully with Christ and the members of St. Peter's during her year long internship.
